New 2016 Lexus CT 200h

2016 Lexus CT 200h Overview

  • IIHS Top Safety Pick+ award winner
  • 134 combined horsepower
  • Estimated 43/40 mpg city/highway
The fuel efficient 2016 Lexus CT 200h serves as the entry level model for Toyota’s luxury brand, offering sporty styling and savings at the pump.

Lexus continues to tweak the CT 200h adding several slight updates for 2016. The grille adds some chrome for flair, the power moonroof has been moved off of the standard features list and is now optional, and Lexus Enform Service Connect has been added, which will automatically upload vehicle maintenance information that is accessible via an app or the web.

Though the CT 200h has an emphasis on efficiency, you wouldn’t guess that from the exterior. The four-door hatchback has a large front grille and an aggressive fascia that gives the hybrid a dash of menace. 17-inch wheels are standard, along with LED daytime running lights and taillights, and heated side mirrors with turn-signal indicators.

Under the hood, the CT 200h shares its powertrain with the Toyota Prius. This familiar application combines a 1.8-liter four-cylinder with an electric motor for a total output of 134-hp. There are four driving modes depending on your mood (Normal, Eco, EV, and Sport) and power runs through a CVT to the front wheels. Fuel economy ratings are estimated at 43/40 mpg city/highway.

Inside, the CT 200h comes with plenty of standard features, discarding its entry level label. Simulated leather upholstery, Bluetooth connectivity, USB port, dual-zone automatic climate control, and powered front seats all come standard. A navigation system with Lexus’ remote touch controller and the Enform App suite are optional. Remote touch also gets ergonomic updates for 2015 that make it easier to use. Behind the rear seats is 14.3 cubic feet of cargo space.

As of this writing the 2016 CT 200h had not been crash tested but last year’s identical model earned a Top Safety Pick+ award from the IIHS, their highest designation, and we expect the same to be true of this year’s model as well. Eight airbags come standard including knee airbags for front seat passengers, along with antilock brakes, electronic stability control, and active front headrests. There is also plenty of optional safety technology, including a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, and a pre-collision system that includes dynamic cruise control.
